About Endoscopic Layrngeal Surgery
Endoscopic laryngeal surgery
Generally, surgery is commonly used to treat patients with laryngeal depending on the stage and location of the cancer cells, different operations may be performed to get rid of the cancer and some nearby organs of the larynx. After the cancer is removed, reconstructive surgery may be done to detect the infected areas.
Vocal cord stripping: This is a technique, where the doctor uses a long surgical instrument to strip away the superficial layers of tissue on the vocal cords. This can be done to biopsy and treat some stage “0” cancers of the vocal cords.
Laser surgery: Lasers can be used to treat some stage “0” and T1 larynx cancers. An endoscope is moved down your throat to identify the tumor, which is then either vaporized or cut out using a high-intensity beam of light on the tip of the endoscope.
Reconstructive surgery: It is done to help replace the structure or function of locations affected by more extensive surgeries to remove the cancer.
Myocutaneous flaps: Sometimes the muscle and location of the skin may be rotated from an area close to the throat, such as the chest, to reconstruct a part of your throat.
