Generally, this is performed on parts of the body that are best captured under a microscope like small blood vessels, nerves, and tubes. From studies the first microvascular surgery, using a microscope to aid in the reconditioning of blood vessels was described by Jules Jacobson - University of Vermont in the year 1960. The first triumphant in replantation was noted in 1964 by Harry Bunke. This replantation of a rabbit's ear was noteworthy because tiny blood vessels which are of 0.04 in (0.1 cm)—close in size to the blood vessels found in a human hand—were successfully done. After two years from then, replantation of a toe to the hand of a monkey was made achievable using microsurgical methods. From then microsurgery is being performed. Microsurgical methods are utilized by plastic surgeons to reconstruct damaged or spoiled skin, muscles, or other tissues, or to transplant tissues from parts of the body. More importantly, a number of specialties can merge to treat patients who have limbs or other body parts.
