Leukemia Unit & Inpatient Chemotherapy Chemotherapy is a fundamental term used to describe a wide range of anti-cancer drug treatments. Each sort of chemotherapy drug can be given alone, However, cancer is commonly treated with a combination of various drugs. The combination of treatments enables more cancer cells to be killed as well as it can increase the chance of a good outcome of the treatment. Chemotherapy is given as a day treatment. This means a patient can visit for the treatment and can go home on the same day. However, in some cases, where a longer treatment is required the patients need to be admitted to hospital as an impatient for the same treatment. Leukemia is clinically classified in several ways as follows: Acute versus chronic Salient proliferating cells such as granulocytic, myelocytic, or lymphocytic Preleukemic- increase in or maintenance of the number of abnormal cells in the blood.
